Jill's Priorities - Restoring Your Voice in Carson City

Public safety is a pressing issue in Senate District 6 and Nevada. In previous legislative sessions, Democrats have passed bills to decriminalize stealing, lower the penalties for criminals in possession of dangerous drugs, reduce penalties for various other crimes, and have actively not supported our law enforcement. This behavior has fostered crime growth and has made our community less safe.  

Jill supports policies that prioritize public safety, including increasing resources for law enforcement, combating drug trafficking and gang violence, and ensuring that criminals have stiff penalties to ensure tough sentencing. We cannot continue to let criminals walk freely. As your next senator, Jill will sponsor legislation to tighten penalties and to hold judges accountable by tightening sentencing guidelines. 

Education is a critical issue in Clark County, and we must focus on improving outcomes. Last session, Democrats blocked Governor Lombardo’s efforts to expand private school scholarships, which was a contributing factor to the recent closure of a private school in Las Vegas that has been operating for over 70 years. 

Because not all children learn the same and all children deserve opportunity, Jill supports policies that empower parents with choices in their children's education, including charter and vocational schools and homeschooling options, while strengthening public schools. Jill believes in reducing burdensome regulations on schools and educators, while also ensuring accountability for student outcomes. We must ensure there is transparency and accountability within each school district to ensure funds are appropriately disbursed. A zip code should not determine a child’s access to education, and we need to ensure that a strong and appropriate curriculum is taught in schools.

Quality education is the cornerstone of a strong community. Without an educational system that adequately prepares our children, they are unable to contribute to the economy, leaving the future of Nevada in question.

Jill believes in empowering individuals and families to make their own healthcare decisions. The government should not intervene and restrict the ability of doctors and patients to make decisions in the exam room. Additionally, Jill supports innovation and the removal of barriers for new healthcare providers to ensure that patients have as many options as possible to receive the best care. We must improve access to addiction and mental health treatment to provide for the most vulnerable in our community, including our seniors and veterans.

Jill support policies that promote fiscal responsibility, lower taxes for individuals and businesses, and prioritize job creation through encouraging business growth. Additionally, a key component of improving our economy and ensuring a fiscally sound state budget is by having government accountability and transparency. Jill is committed to promoting government transparency and accountability. I support initiatives to increase transparency in state government, including measures to ensure public access to government meetings, documents, and expenditures. By championing transparency, we can strengthen democracy, empower citizens, and build a more accountable government that works for all Nevadans.

As a proud Blue Star mother, Jill supports timely access to high-quality healthcare, mental health services, addiction services, and employment opportunities for veterans transitioning to civilian life. Jill believes the state of Nevada should improve its constituent service network to help veterans navigate issues they are facing, so they don’t ever have trouble finding the right help. Additionally, Jill supports enhancing the Office of Legal Military Assistance to provide free legal services for Nevada veterans.

As a conservative candidate for Nevada State Senate, Jill is committed to safeguarding individual rights and personal liberty. Jill believes in limited government and respect for the autonomy of individuals to make their own choices in matters such as healthcare, education, and personal finances. Jill will champion policies that protect our constitutional rights, including the right to free speech, religious freedom, and the right to bear arms. By defending individual rights and personal liberty, we can preserve the essence of what it means to be a Nevadan and an American.
